Abstract:
There are different levels of sensitivity of the human eye structures to electromagnetic radiation, and particular wavelengths such as the ones in the range of ultraviolet (UV) and high energy blue light can cause photochemical and photothermal damage. In order to create a filtering aid nanocomposite materials based on poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with four different concentrations of fullerene (C60) were used. The research defined the differences between diffused light entering an optical aid and the one leaving it. Photometric and spectroscopic analysis point to the significance of the concentration of C60 molecules in a nanocomposite material and its influence on the optical and structural features of the material. This study concludes that fullerene-based nanocomposite materials have excellent UV and high-energy blue light blocking abilities, so they can be used as UV and blue blocking filters in optical aids.
